Overview Metamorphosis is a curatorial art competition initiated by ORAC Gallery as a platform for exploring transformation as one of the defining conditions of contemporary existence. Conceived at the intersection of artistic inquiry and curatorial reflection, the project invites artists to approach metamorphosis not simply as a theme, but as a generative force shaping identity, memory, society, and the changing relationship between human beings and their environment. Theme Transformation is understood here in the broadest sense: as personal shift, cultural transition, environmental change, social reconfiguration, and the emergence of new modes of perception. ORAC Gallery welcomes works that engage these questions with conceptual clarity, formal rigor, and critical depth. Rather than treating metamorphosis as a purely visual motif, the competition approaches it as a complex field of tension — between continuity and rupture, fragility and resilience, dissolution and renewal. Artists are invited to respond to these conditions through practices that are both intellectually grounded and artistically distinctive. Eligibility Metamorphosis is open to artists working across a wide range of media, including painting, sculpture, installation, multimedia, and performance. The competition welcomes both emerging and established practitioners whose work demonstrates a strong artistic voice and a thoughtful engagement with the theme. Awards The principal award is a solo exhibition at A Space Gallery in Venice, offering the selected artist the opportunity to present their work within a context of exceptional historical and international resonance. Finalists will also be invited to participate in a group exhibition at ORAC Gallery, creating an additional platform for public presentation, professional visibility, and curatorial dialogue. Application Applications should be submitted through the gallery’s online platform and must include: a portfolio, an artist statement, and a brief outline of the relationship between the submitted work and the theme of the competition. A registration fee is required in order to support the organisational and production framework of the project.
