Posłańcy Mocy (Messengers of Power) presents a group of works by Józef Krzysztof Oraczewski in which the image emerges as a site of transmission rather than representation. The title does not point to identifiable messengers in any literal sense. Instead, it evokes figures, presences, and forms that seem to carry a force exceeding the visible world — something at once symbolic, elemental, and inward.

In these works, Oraczewski does not define power as domination, control, or external authority. Power appears here in a more primary sense: as intensity, energy, spiritual charge, and the capacity of form to make something otherwise inexpressible briefly present. The “messengers” are therefore not narrative characters, but carriers of tension. They stand at the threshold between appearance and disappearance, matter and sign, body and emanation.

A striking quality of this cycle lies in the instability of the image. The forms resist fixed identification. At moments they suggest the human figure; elsewhere they resemble vegetal growth, wings, totemic structures, or traces of a presence only partially revealed. This ambiguity is central to the exhibition. Oraczewski allows the image to remain open, not as vagueness, but as a deliberate condition of meaning. What is seen is never fully exhausted by what is named.

The material language of the works is equally important. Their surfaces are dense, stratified, and charged with friction. Texture is not secondary to the image; it is one of the principal means through which the image comes into being. Matter does not merely support form here — it generates it, obstructs it, and intensifies it. In this sense, the paintings operate as fields of emergence, where presence is not given in advance but wrested from the resistance of the surface itself.

Seen as a whole, Posłańcy Mocy may be understood as an exploration of painting as a medium of transmission: a place where latent energies, obscure impulses, and non-verbal meanings take provisional form. The exhibition reveals a significant dimension of Oraczewski’s practice, one in which the image is neither descriptive nor purely abstract, but suspended between manifestation and mystery.
