Józef Krzysztof Oraczewski’s Warsaw exhibition presents a new body of works and continues his Venetian presentations and his exploration of the mask. These successive encounters unfold within MINORIA, an artistic and curatorial project conceived by Monika Turczyńska and developed through a series of exhibitions during the 2026 Venice Biennale season. MINORIA explores the emergence of form, perception and trace: how an image comes into presence, retains the memory of a gesture, and changes through its encounter with material and the viewer’s gaze.

In Oraczewski’s work, the mask becomes a site of these transformations. It returns in different manifestations: as a distinct painted face, a trace on paper, and a form veiled by broken glass. Each version brings a different relationship between what can be recognised and what remains concealed.

The works on paper draw attention to gesture and its immediate inscription. The face approaches an outline, a fragment, a memory of an image. In the Broken Mask series, broken glass is laid over the painted surface. The image remains present beneath it, yet its visibility depends on light, reflections and the viewer’s position. The fractures introduce a drawing of their own; the surface holds the gaze and allows it to reach deeper.

In the layered works, a milky layer gradually became transparent, allowing the mask beneath to emerge. As opacity receded, colour, gesture and the contours of the face became visible in a new way. The transformation took place within the material itself: time participated in the making of the image. The works retain the memory of this gradual disclosure.

These different manifestations of the mask coexist, retaining the memory of a shared motif. Seen together, they reveal how a change in material transforms the experience of a work. MINORIA opens here: at the moment when a familiar form ceases to be self-evident and the image reveals the possibility of another reading.

The exhibition at ORAC Gallery brings to Warsaw the strands developed during the Venetian Biennale season, ahead of their next presentation: MINORIA — CODA at CONTEXT Art Miami 2026. It offers an opportunity for a close encounter with the artist’s works, an exploration of the relationships between them, and the choice of a work for a personal collection.

These newly created works are being offered for acquisition for the first time, at special prices arranged for the Warsaw exhibition. Individual prices and availability are shared directly by the gallery. We welcome private appointments and conversations about choosing works for a collection.
