CHANTIA MALAJA, Matter of Care

Matter of Care presents an expanded reflection on home as a condition shaped not by architecture alone, but by long-term, cumulative acts of care. Rather than approaching home as a fixed structure or typology, Chantia understands it as a process — one that unfolds slowly through enclosure, protection, and the continuous negotiation between fragility and endurance.

The exhibition develops organically from the artist’s earlier project Pearl, in which Chantia examined the formation of meaning through prolonged, often painful processes of layering around an incomprehensible core. In both bodies of work, form does not emerge from clarity or intention, but from necessity: from the need to protect what irritates, disturbs, or remains unresolved. Beauty, when it appears, is a byproduct of persistence rather than a goal.
